RIACS Projects

RIACS researchers collaborate with NASA scientists in order to apply information technology to various areas of interest to NASA such as astrobiology, biological sciences, space sciences, and earth sciences. Some current projects include:

  1. Autonomy and Decision Support
  2. Software Verification and Validation
  3. Agent-Based Simulation and Systems
  4. Image Analysis and Data Fusion
  5. Integrated Information Management and Systems

Research in these areas will provide the foundation for the next generation of information systems required to enable the nation’s Vision for Space Exploration. While these technologies will certainly be required to achieve the nation’s space exploration vision, they will also lead to breakthroughs here on Earth, providing benefits to all humanity. Looking forward, RIACS is working to expand its research efforts not only for NASA, but for other organizations as well. Through the development of strategic partnerships, technology licensing agreements and cooperative agreements, RIACS intends to provide innovative information systems to a broad range of government and industry customers for years to come.
