For SSRP Participants

SSRP Research Project Report

Towards the end of your internship, you will be expected present a brief talk on your research in a seminar, and to submit a written report on your project. Your mentor will help you with this. Also, your mentor will provide an evaluation of your work to the SSRP office, and will discuss this evaluation with you. This feedback will be extremely valuable to you! Be sure to ask questions and get the most out of it.

General Information For all student visitors

On your first day, you will need your driver’s license or other official picture ID and your social security card or birth certificate. If you are a foreign national, be sure to bring your original Passport and Visa.

US citizens can also show a passport (for US citizens, expired passports are OK)

Directions to NASA/Ames

 From El Camino Real:

Turn onto Castro Street. (Right if you are coming from the South, and left if you’re coming from the North.) After Castro crosses Central Expressway it changes name to Moffett Blvd.

From Middlefield Road or Central Expressway:

Turn onto Moffett Blvd. (Right if you are coming from the South, and left if you’re coming from the North.)

From Highway 101:

Take the exit for Moffett Field. Be careful that you do not take the Moffett Blvd exit, which will take you in the opposite direction from the center!

Continue on Moffett Blvd and it will end at the entrance gates to Moffett Field You will see a big white bubble building on the right, which is Space Camp.

To the right of the gate there is a parking area and a small building, which is the visitor’s center. Park and go into the visitor’s center.

There will be a visitor's badge request waiting for you in the Visitor's Center. You will need to show picture ID (e.g. driver’s license), or your Passport and visa if you are a  foreign national .and then you will be photographed and  given the badge and a map of the center.

NOTE: If you are a foreign national, your escort must meet you at the entrance gate. If you want to drive your car onto the base, your escort must be in the vehicle with you. Please pre-arrange this with your mentor.

Show your badge and ID to the guards when you drive through the gate. You will have to do this every time you enter the base.

When you leave the visitor’s center parking lot, go across Moffett Blvd (This intersection can be busy, be careful!) and continue down the perimeter road, called R.T. Jones Road, past the big wind tunnel, past a space shuttle mock-up and to gate 17.

The guards will check your badge and ID. They may search your car – random searches are in effect. You may park outside of Gate 17 and walk in if you prefer.
